If you include challenges though, I'd probably have to go with 3 as the challenges there cut you off from the OP weapon combinations that make the game easier. If you're playing through the series for the first time, the first game you play is obviously gonna be the hardest due to a lack of experience with the necromorphs and their tricks, so I can't really use that metric.įor just playing on the highest difficulty (not counting challenges, as 1 doesn't have any), 2 is probably the hardest, due to it just being straight up harder than the first, while the third is easier to break with overpowered weapons. I've beaten 1 on impossible, but only beat 2 on hard. I also wasn't playing co-op so that might make it way easier than the others too. I'm sure if you followed some guide and made a super OP gun it'd be super easy. Granted I only recently replayed all these on normal difficulty, and in 3 I was sorta just building weapons I thought were good and not following min-maxing guides. And the all-in-one ammo in 3 made it tough too since I constantly ran out with nothing to fall back on like I did in the others. I never really felt I needed an AOE room clearer and I rarely used stasis in 1 and 2 but both felt like a necessity in 3 because I would constantly get surround and killed. In 1 and 2 besides twitchers and the pack necromorphs just sorta rush at you but slow down just a bit as they reach you and then telegraph attacks (like RE4+5) and you get more time to react, but in 3 they rush you in swarms and immediately attack without waiting. Enemies are way faster and more relentless.
